Editor's Pick: How Do They Do That? Guthrie Theater secrets revealed this weekend

If you've ever wondered about how scene designers create illusions onstage, what directors and dramaturgs actually do, how actors find their way into their roles, what's involved in rehearsing a play, or anything else theatrical, this Saturday offers a great chance to find out at Minneapolis' internationally renowned Guthrie Theater. A workshop  brings curious members of the public together with actors and technicians to explore how a major current production, George Bernard Shaw's Arms and the Man, came into being.

It's How Do They Do That?, a regular Guthrie offering, this week at 9 AM Saturday morning. On hand will be an impressive roster of theater talent:

Trevor Long, Assistant Production Director
Patricia Olive, Props Manager
Andrea Gross, Costume Design Assistant
Carla Steen, Dramaturg
Kate Eifrig, actor playing Catherine
Peter Michael Goetz, actor playing Petkoff
Jim Lichtscheidl, actor playing Bluntschli

...and whether you've seen the Guthrie's production of this witty, offbeat romantic comedy (production photos at left) or not, you're likely to learn a lot about how a state-of-the-art American theater goes about making magic.

Tickets for How Do They Do That? are $15, available here on the Guthrie web site.
